Basically, I lost my camera after a drunken night in Norwich but luckily it has been found, so I will update the photos from the shows that we have been to this year so far. Because of this, I dug out my old SLR and stuck a digital lens on it which looks super wide. Me and Em drove all the way to High Wycombe to deliver the Mia Hope tshirts that we had printed for their release show. It was an awesome evening/weekend, seeing old friends and hanging out. I lost to Dug at pool quite badly though!

This was me and Em’s first show together in Norwich. It was generally awesome as it was with good friends Crocus and Kasa, plus Baptists from Norwich and The NY-Hill Stillness from France. Everyone was amazing, especially Baptists as it was their first show. I’m looking forward to seeing them again in Feb with Throats. I didn’t get any photos of NY-Hill Stillness as I was sat on the door. We ate cakes, tried to talk French, slept in a freezing shop and I tattooed Crocus. Huge thanks to everyone that came down or helped out at all, especially Fran for the continual flow of coffee!

We drove down to Brighton for the Fall Of Efrafa farewell show, which took us hours, but was nothing compared to the people that had come from pretty much all over the world! We arrived a little late (because I can’t park a car) just in time to catch Battle Of Wolf, who sounded particularly brutal, even if we were stuck at the back of the room. There were loads of people there and it was great to see Pete and George Miles after such a long time. We had to get some food so missed most of Insuiciety. So then it was Fall Of Efrafa, and the last time they would play together. It was immense, heavy, epic and emotional… a great send off for a great band.

A totally weird but amazing show. We infiltrated a house party as it was in some kids room in Nottingham. Andtheywillriot! were incredible and seriously loud, Crocus were chaotic and wild. Greg nearly killed alot of people with his microphone and nearly killed himself launching over a human pyramid! Good times.

There are alot of good screamo bands around at the moment, and Battle Of Wolf 359 are definitely one of them, and one my favourites. We drove into London to go to the Grossanova to see them. They were excellent and worth the drive. Check out their record ‘The Death Of Affect’ on React With Protest/Parade Of Spectres if you haven’t already.

Due to the venue pulling out at the last minute (ie the day before) this had to be quickly rearranged to Finns, the old venue we used in Weymouth. It was also meant to be the unofficial release show for the Silent Front / Shield Your Eyes split 7″. Boo. Initially I was worried about it, but it made a pleasant change to be honest. First up were Battle For Paris, who have a bright future ahead of them. Next were Shield Your Eyes who were totally amazing and then Silent Front, who just keep getting better. I only had a few frames on my Lomo so, only the one photo.

Due to a show on the Crocus / Lavotchkin tour being pulled midway through, everyone went back to Zak We Hearts house for an impromptu basement show. It was wild and drunken. I hated it as I’d just had my chest tattooed by Liam (Trencher) and felt rank. The next night was the scheduled basement show, and it was just as crazy as the night before. It was really busy, lots of old friends and familiar faces came down. Silent Front were as brilliant as always, Crocus were as wild as always, Lavotchkin were as heavy as always, but the evening belonged to Andtheywillriot! who blew everyone away with their first show back in a long time. They were loud, dense and heavy yet subtle and beautiful. Totally immense.

I spent an amazing weekend in London with Antheywillriot! as they were recording their new ep with Tim from Part Chimp. The studio was in an amazing building, with a great roof space. The new songs are sounding amazing. It’s so good that they are back together. I can’t wait to hear the new songs live.

It was nice as always to see Crocus and Throats again. Crocus were really chaotic and I enjoyed that. Throats were muddy and heavy!

I’ve never been to a show in Salisbury before and I have to say I didn’t enjoy it much to be honest. I think I was about 10 years older than everyone else there and everyone was “oh so cool”. I’m turning into a grumpy old man. Blakfish were amazing, I think they are a brilliant live band, really enthusiastic and entertaining. Horse The Band were also good, although the bass player was a little too aggro for my liking. So yeah, like I said… I’m getting old. Fact.
